How is Martin Luther king Jr portrayed in your country's media and history? Can you compare that portrayal to any other person from history? If i had to choose comparisons based on the history i was taught be would be compared to Nelson Mandela or mother Teresa.

Martin Luther King is just a small figure in history
Luther King and Nelson Mandela are portrayed universally positively it seems here. Mother Teresa seems less so and I’ve seen/heard more criticism of her. I found reference to the amusingly titled essay:
The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice
Could you tell me how Mandela and Theresa are portrayed by your media?
Pretty certain the entire world's media love him.
Of course in Australia, a fair portion of the media think Stalin & Mao were ok, so I don't pay attention to the media.
Comparing him to the public image of Mandela or Teresa is a bit over the top though.
in the states Gandhi's racism isn't talked about much, but really he isn't spoken of much except for the pun..http://pages.uoregon.edu/gilkey/dirhumor/tenpuns.html (number nine, based on a song from the musical mary poppins)
He's definitely one of the great heroes of modern time over here in the Netherlands as well. I would add Gandhi to your list, although he did have some racist views that kinda spoil his legacy.
